DAINZU
| Stone #1, is a partial image of the largest carved stone which depicts a priest wielding a sword (not shown), and the figure shown here rising from behind or within the sword. This figure has genitals flayed like those of the Danzantes. He resembles a personage but is not naturalistic as other figures at this site. I call him an “apparition” because his face is a series of three coils – not unlike the genitals! He may be a "nahua". Rubbing © Ruth Hardinger
